The Stomach Bug

I don't know if any of you have had it but both Maddie and Kenzie had it with in two hours of each other. It is no fun having two sick babies that both want to be held. Cade did his best Friday until I got off of work. I can't wait till they feel better.

Our First Birthday!

On Thursday, July 30, 2009 the girls turned ONE! Cade and I could not be happier. We celebrated their birthday on August 1st. We did a Dr. Seuss theme. It is great to have friends that are teachers because Kendra was able to draw Dr. Seuss pictures onto paper and then Cade and I painted the pictures. We also added some of her Dr. Seuss decorations for her classroom. I made their cake in the shape of the Cat in the Hat's hat. They got so much for their birthday that we have no room for most of it. I told Cade we just needed to move! Who knew we would out grow our 1st house with one birth? Thank you to everyone who came to their party. It was so much fun!

We went to the doctor today and our current weights are Madison - 16lbs 14oz and Mackenzie - 15lbs 13oz. The doctor said they are growing like they should and looked great. Cade and I can't wait until we can put them in front facing car seats, but it doesn't look that will happen until Christmas. The girls have both started crawling on their knees and pulling up to a standing position. It's not long until they are going to be very mobile. On the 28th of July they had their rehab appointment. They are all pleased with how the girls are coming along. They wanted to hear them talk. I told them they need to put them in the car because they talk to each other all the way to daycare and back. We have to go back in 3 months just to make sure they stay on schedule developmentally. The girls will go back to see Dr Herbert when they are 18 months.

Below is a video of the girls playing together. They are so funny to watch. Hope you enjoy!

We are 9 months old

We went to the doctor last Tuesday. Madie weighs 13 pounds 10 oz and Kenzie weighs 13 pounds 2 oz. Dr Herbert said he was happy with us because they have steady put on weight. Cade and I have starting feed the girls table food. They are doing great with that. Also, the girls have starting trying to drink out of a regular cup. The girls can now sit up on their own with no support. They still are not crawling but they are army crawling and rocking on their hands and knees. They are doing new things every day. I hope you enjoy the new pictures.

Last weekend the girls met my Uncle Jim, Aunt Stella, Whitney, Brad, & Patrick. I have to brag on my Aunt Stella! Saturday afternoon the girls and I were at Mammy's house alone with Aunt Stella. The girls were hungry and I wasn't moving fast enough. My Aunt Stella isn't the most comfortable with baby babies but she jumped right in there and helped my feed my screaming children. She did a wonderful job feeding Madie. (who tried to start playing with two ounces left) Thank you so much Aunt Stella.

Bath time has become a more enjoyable time for me and the girls. Madie loves to splash and kick her feet. She sits up on her own in the tub and smiles for the most part while she is having her bath. Kenzie doesn't scream anymore which is a big deal. She is not as sure of the bath as Madie but I think she is starting to figure out the splashing idea! I put some pictures of their baths now and some pictures of their baths in the NICU. They are sure easier to deal with now than then.

Tomorrow we will be 9 month old. (6 month adjusted age) The last 9 months have flown by. The last 6 months faster than the first 3 months. I can't wait until their first birthday! Cade and I are already planing now. We have already bought their birthday present. It is going to be so much fun!

Our First Easter

We did not hunt Easter eggs this year but we did receive lots of presents! Madison and Mackenzie got several great outfits, many books, and wonderful stuffed animals. I think they are a couple of weeks away from crawling. It won't be long until they are mobile and going in two different directions. They are also doing better with their solids. We have found they love strawberry banana apple and hate peaches. We don't go to the doctor until May 5th so I am not sure how much they weigh. Cade and I can't wait to find out. Well I hope all of you had a good Easter, we did.

We are Eight Months Old

Today we are eight months old! Can't believe that in four months they will be ONE!!! The girls have made a big discovery - GUS. They love Gus now. If he comes around them they reach out for him and try to pull him near. He is a great sport about it. Soon Cade and I will walk out in the backyard and they will be ridding him. The girls can both sit up using their hands to prop them up. Also, they can push themselves up and rotate- no crawling yet. It's only a matter of time before they do.

We went to West Texas Rehab Tuesday for our assessment. So far so good. The therapists say we are functioning like a normal four month old. (that is our adjusted aged - at the end of March we will be eight months old) They even say we are doing somethings that a five to six month old can do. All though we are not out of the woods yet we are doing great. We will go back in three months.
At the beginning of the month we went to the doctor for our RSV shots and Madie was 11 pounds 9 ounces and Kenzie was 10 pounds 14 ounces. We are both rolling over, smiling, laughing, and trying to crawl. It won't be long before we will be mobile.
We are still trying out solid foods. Not a total success but we are slowly getting the hang of it. Hopefully in another month we will start getting it down.
